Behind the Scenes
Writing Bootsy Collins
Telling good stories takes practice. My time as screenwriter on Bootsy Collins helped me learn how to develop characters and a narrative for moving image—plus, it was insanely fun project! It took a deep understanding for the characters I wanted to portray (their motivations, thoughts, feelings, fears, etc.), but I had to translate those 2D characters in a 3D space. Every piece of dialogue, movement, and scene I wrote became the backbone to what the Director of Photography, Art Director, Producer and Director would use to create the final picture.
Not only that, but I was the camera operator. I captured every image under the direction of the Director of Photography.
Fun Fact: Never work with a cat. Ever. Unsurprisingly, they don't want to do what they're told.
